Inverclyde Academy Turbine - Blair
Inverclyde Liberal Democrat Council Group Leader Alan Blair has raised frustration about Inverclyde Academy wind turbine.
Alan Blair raised the issue with the director of Education a few months ago, who had explained that the turbine is no longer in working order by reason of a faulty or missing part and apparently the company which manufactured the turbine has gone out of business.
At the time when the school was designed and later when it was completed, the Inverclyde Liberal Democrats were informed that the turbine would produce a large proportion of power required by the school. we were also informed that Inverclyde Academy would have a larger proportion of its energy supplied by wind power than any other school in the UK.
Alan Blair said “what began as a generally accepted good idea, has now become a local embarrassment.
The Turbine was intended to be of educational benefit, in providing a working example of green energy to pupils, and indeed to the public in general.
The reality is that it has become a somewhat forlorn local landmark, without any apparent purpose or future
It is hard for the ordinary citizen to believe that this cannot be sorted out. There is plenty local engineering knowledge, and around Scotland there is no shortage of companies delivering wind turbines“
*Alan Blair has since escalated the issue within Inverclyde Council in the hope that action will be taken to find a resolution as soon as possible.
