Willie Rennie - Inverclyde Abandoned by SNP

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie MSP joined Sophie Bridger, Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for the Inverclyde by-election at Gourock pier today.

Despite promises made by the SNP to retain the Dunoon to Gourock car ferry, within weeks of the election the SNP had reneged on this commitment.

Commenting Mr Rennie said:

“The SNP have let down the people of Inverclyde badly. People here depend on this car ferry link, and the SNP promised throughout their last term to protect it – right up until they scrapped it just after the election.

“The SNP made promises they knew they would not keep to win votes.

“For too long this area has been abandoned by the SNP, they have been all talk but no action, cutting vital services and regeneration funding.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats are different. We stood up for the people of Inverclyde and the retention of the car ferry service, questioning the First Minister and holding him to account on the Scottish Government's plans for the car ferry service.

“Sophie Bridger and the Scottish Liberal Democrats are the right choice for Inverclyde. Sophie will be a hard working MP with a fresh voice at Westminster, standing up for the needs of local people in Inverclyde.”
